Interns work directly with the firm’s various teams on a wide variety of projects, clients and subject matters. Our boutique firm environment enables an intern to experience a range of policy issues common to the federal government, while offering them access to several areas of professional interest to further their career.

    Position Summary

    Are you interested in learning how to navigate national politics, policy, and public affairs in a fast-paced environment? Would you like to spend a summer in Washington learning from our seasoned principals and staff, being trained in professional skills, and meeting future professional contacts and mentors?

    Venn Strategies is a fast-paced, nationally recognized full-service government and public affairs firm based in Washington, DC. Our track record of success is a function of our broad array of working relationships, our strategic expertise, and our impeccable bipartisan reputation across the policy and political spectrum.

    We offer our clients a wide range of deliverables focused on advocacy, issue management, coalition management, grassroots engagement, alliance development, and strategic advisory services. Specializing in matters of health care, tax, economic policy, financial services, trade, and critical infrastructure, our firm strikes a critical balance providing the depth and breadth of a major political powerhouse, combined with the personal attention and engagement that only a principal-driven boutique can offer.

    We are currently accepting applicants for our 2024 Summer Internship, which runs from June to August. We are seeking summer interns for our healthcare, critical infrastructure, tax, and financial services practices, as well as our cross-functional events team. We offer our interns challenging and engaging opportunities to develop public affairs and political careers through direct working relationships with our government affairs professionals and exposure to a variety of projects, clients, and issues common to the federal government.

    The internship will be primarily in-person in our downtown D.C. offices, with opportunities to work remotely at the discretion of the firm. Please note: Applicants must be fully vaccinated for COVID- 19, including a bivalent booster. This is a paid internship.

    Interested applicants must be rising college seniors, recent college graduates, or current graduate students.

    Example of Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Support staff on real-time event planning
    • Participate in and take notes at relevant policy briefings, hearings, and advocacy meetings.
    • Monitor legislative and policy developments and conduct in-depth research on specific policy issues.
    • Prepare memos, transcripts, bios, and fact sheets on assigned topics
    • Schedule congressional staff meetings and/or support client meeting prep
    • Perform other duties as required.
